28.03.25 Final stage of VRintelliPrint Hackathon 2025
The final stage of VRintelliPrint Hackathon 2025, organized by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering in cooperation with GlobalLogic, has been successfully completed.
GlobalLogic welcomed the participants to its office, creating favorable conditions for the final presentations. Students presented innovative solutions, demonstrating the full development cycle - from concept to creation of a working prototype.
The participants impressed with the high level of technical training, creativity and effective team interaction. The winners were awarded valuable prizes and received the opportunity to undergo an internship at GlobalLogic.
However, there were no losers in this hackathon: each participant made a significant contribution, presented a competitive project and gained valuable practical experience.

07.03.25 GlobalLogic invites IT students of Lviv Polytechnic to a hackathon
The Department of SAP in cooperation with the company GlobalLogic is organizing the VRintelliPrint Hackathon 2025, in which 3rd-year IT students of the National University "Lviv Polytechnic" are invited to participate. The event is aimed at students interested in robotics systems development, programming, 3D modeling and integration of VR technologies.
Objective of the event
The hackathon will provide participants with the opportunity to:
- Deepen knowledge and skills in the field of robotics, CAD design, programming and VR.
- Work with experienced engineers and IT experts.
- Gain practical experience in developing an intelligent manipulator.
- Compete for valuable prizes, as well as the opportunity to intern at GlobalLogic.
Format:
- Dates: March 10–27, 2025
- Location held: NU "LP", room 006, 1 academic building, st. Starosolskykh, 24.
During the event, teams will develop an adaptive manipulator capable of capturing and moving objects of various shapes, using modern technologies of CAD, 3D printing, programming and VR.
Main stages of the hackathon
- March 10, 2025 – Opening of the event, formation of teams, presentation of the task.
- March 17, 2025 – Intermediate assessment of the completed work.
- March 27, 2025 – Final stage, presentation of projects, jury evaluation, awarding of winners

Department of Computer Design Systems
The Department of "Computer Design Systems" (CDS) was established in 1989 as a profiling department for the purpose of training engineers with the specialty "Computer Design Systems" as part of the Radio Engineering Faculty.
Since May 2000, the head of the CDS department has been Mykhailo Lobur.
Territorially, the department is located in the IV educational building (classrooms 318-324). The department has 5 educational laboratories equipped with modern computers (107 computers), which are connected to the university-wide network with the possibility of accessing the Internet.

Education process
- The department provides training of highly qualified specialists in the field of programming, automated design, development of complex systems.
- During their studies, our students undergo practical training in foreign universities, take part in international projects, speak at scientific conferences in Ukraine and abroad.
- Our students are offered work by domestic and European IT companies, project organizations and information technology departments of business structures, banks, and large enterprises.
- The best graduates of the department are invited to study at the graduate school of our department and universities in Warsaw, Krakow, Lodz.
- The department successfully operates a post-graduate and doctoral course in the specialty "Systems of automation of design work".

Presentation of scientific research

Scientific journal "Computer Design Systems. Theory and Practice"
Scientific journal of the Lviv Polytechnic National University "Computer Design Systems. Theory and Practice" is published once a year, starting in 2019. The magazine is the legal successor of the collection of scientific works "Bulletin of the National University "Lviv Polytechnic". Series: "Computer systems of design. Theory and practice"
The scientific journal highlights the results of the theory and practice of modeling complex objects, processes and systems, as well as the development and use of software for automated design.

Conference CADSM
Since 1991, the department has been holding the International Scientific and Technical Conference "Experience of Designing and Application of CAD Systems in Microelectronics" (CADSM).

Conference MEMSTECH
Since 2005, the department has been holding the International Scientific and Technical Conference "Perspective technologies and methods in MEMS design" (MEMSTECH).

Conference CADMD
Since 2004, the department has been holding a Ukrainian-Polish conference "CAD in Machinery Design Implementation and Educational Issues".

Students play a significant role in the implementation of these programs - they take a direct part in the performance of scientific works, get the opportunity to complete internships in foreign educational institutions, and the best bachelor graduates can continue their studies in master's and postgraduate studies at the indicated universities.
The "International Lecturer" program has been developed and implemented at the department, which provides specialized lectures by leading foreign specialists and lectures at foreign universities. For this program, the department invites foreign professors and doctors who are leading specialists in the field of modeling and automated design of complex technical objects and systems. All lectures are open and are held in specialized multimedia classrooms.
